An Inspector Calls JB Priestley dictogloss

This is a dictogloss activity - a form of supported dictation where learners listen to a text two or three times, take notes, then collaboratively reconstruct the text as near to the original as possible.

Learners can have fun actively engaging with this text while learning about JB Priestley’s life.

A dictogloss lesson works well when supported with key visuals, and some images are provided for learners to look at and discuss before the main dictogloss activity. They are also useful for finding out how much learners already know about the historical context of the play.

This type of activity is very effective in helping learners to internalise the content of a text, and in focussing on the language within it.
