Hamlet – appearance and reality

Most of the activities are suitable for collaborative pair or group work, to generate real opportunities for talk in preparation for a piece of extended writing on the topic.

The activities In this pack are at various levels, ranging from a fairly straightforward sorting exercise using a Venn diagram to more challenging tasks based around six key quotes relating to the theme of appearance versus reality in Hamlet. There is a set of flashcards for matching quotes with what they mean, and activities to support the writing of Point Example Explanation (PEE) paragraphs. The pack can be used in conjunction with other EAL Nexus resources on Hamlet, including those which include scene-by-scene summaries in accessible English, flashcards of key words and DARTs activities (e.g. Hamlet Act 1).
